From back in 2011, to today, the Ride is about Community and Cycling. Get on whatever bike you have and meet people from all over Colorado (and beyond), celebrating the love of the bike. The Radler Ride is NOT a race, but a good time to be had by all.
The Ride includes a pre-Ride festival, with games, exhibitors, trivia, demonstrations, and more. Following the Ride, we host a post-Ride concert, food trucks, and of course lots of great Wibby Brewing craft lagers!
We found that almost ALL bike festivals are either race-based, or are for just the drinkers. No shame on either, but we found our place by being open to riders of all ages, in a friendly, supportive environment. Our take is, if everyone is having fun, then you are more likely to go out and ride, which is the whole point!
The Radler Ride is a fundraiser for Bicycle Longmont, the area non-profit Bicycle advocacy organization. We work with the City and County to get more bike infrastructure built, put on the Kids Holiday Bike Program, support biking to events, and will soon be opening an educational bike garage.
Bicycle Longmont is completely volunteer run. To learn more about what we do, CLICK HERE.
The Ride started way back in 2011, as the Big Bike Thing - Bicycle Longmont folks like Ryan and Scott wanted to see if we could get Bike Night to be like 200 riders.
Early that first year, Oskar Blues came on board, and for 8 years the Ride was the G'Knight Ride, named in honor of Gordon Night, and the brewery's big, red, sticky beer. We ended up with 1,200 riders that first year, and outgrew Prospect Park after our 2nd year. The Ride moved to Roosevelt Park for several more editions.
In 2020, Bicycle Longmont was looking for a new title sponsor, and Wibby Brewing jumped forward and asked to also host. Their Radlers (a mix of lager and fruit juice) also mean bikes in German - PERFECT! Well, 2020 wasn't in the cards for big events, but after 18 months off, the Radler Ride is back this September!
The Radler Ride is a little different each year. For more on all the other activities we have going on in this year's edition, be sure to check out the Schedule of Events, Bands, and other links here on the website. Things get updated all the time, so be sure to check back for the newest info!
