Volunteers make it all work at the Lightshine Radler Ride. From getting posters out at local businesses to cleaning up the route the day after the Ride, volunteers get the Ride done for Bicycle Longmont & Wibby Brewing. Volunteers get to learn about the event behind the scenes, help craft the event, and make it awesome for thousands of others. We have hundreds of spots for volunteers to jump in and help out, and in return you can earn free tickets for you and your family to ride with us, as well as first dibs on swag, and this year's volunteer t-shirt and post event Thank You party.
All Lightshine Radler Ride Volunteers can earn the following by helping us out:
- Free Ride entry with 4 hours of volunteering
- Lightshine Radler Ride Volunteer tee
- Post-event Thank You party entry
Volunteer 9 or more hours, and also earn:
- TWO Adult Ride entries, plus TWO child entries
-2nd entry to the post-event Thank you party
ALL volunteers for Bicycle Longmont, including other activities, like Bike Valets at events and at the Farmers Market, also count toward earning free entires to the Lightshine Radler Ride.
Bike Valet is an easy way to get to know others and help our cycling community. We call it the Coat Check for Bikes. An easy way to support cycling all over the city. Click the button above and select Bicycle Longmont 2021 for Bike Valet volunteer opportunities.
Have a non-profit, school, or other group that would like some support? We welcome groups to volunteer at the Lightshine Radler Ride to earn money for their organization.
Group volunteering starts at 9 people at 3 hours each (or any combination), for contributions of $250 or more to your group!
Email us if you are interested, and we can work out a program that works for both your organization and the Lightshine Radler Ride!
Previous Group Volunteer Efforts:
- Route Marshals
- Business poster and card distribution
- Clean up crew
(Here are some answers to oft-asked questions about volunteering and volunteer benefits. Be sure to contact us if you don't see your question and need some help or clarification.
HOW DO WE REGISTER FOR FREE?
About a month out from the ride (Early August) we will send out a volunteer code for all qualifying volunteers to use (individual or Family discounts). Please don't register early, and then ask for us to discount after - we then have to eat the processing fees. (We can, we just don;t want to make a habit of it.)
CAN MY KID VOLUNTEER AND EARN HOURS?
Yes, but please, 13+. We know there are some kids who are super mature, but this has become our cut-off (for Bike Valet it is the same).
WHAT IF MY SHIFT IS FOR AFTER THE RADLER RIDE?
We use an honor system, so if you are registered to volunteer, then we count it as much as if you have volunteered. Let's be nice to each other.
DO GROUP VOLUNTEERS GET ALL THE BENNIES INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS DO?
No, we'd end up going broke. Group Volunteers are working to benefit their organization, so we can;t give entries AND contributions to an organization. Group Volunteers will get a Volunteer tee and entry into the Thank You party, just no free Ride entry.
CAN I USE MY FREE RIDE ENTRY FOR SOMEONE ELSE?
Yes. People do this all the time - maybe volunteer for 9 hours, and use one for themselves, and another for a friend, or they already paid, and then volunteer, and have a free ticket they can use for a friend. Totally cool with us.
CAN I VOLUNTEER AND EARN A VIP SPOT?
Interesting question. Thanks for asking. Let's put a pin in that one, and see what the Board thinks of that one. There are really limited VIP spots, but if you are willing to help out a LOT, then it MAY be possible. You CAN use your VIP discounts toward a VIP ticket, and pay the difference. That we do know.
CAN I REDEEM MY TICKET VALUE FOR CASH OR BEER?
No. You are volunteering to help us out.
